Licensing and Usage Management
At Cyera, customers manage multiple products, each with a different licensing model. I led the design of a new Licensing experience that gives customers clear visibility into their usage, status, and opportunities - without needing to rely on Cyera human support.
Customers lacked visibility into their license status:
- License data was not accessible in-product
- Different pricing models (volume, seats, binary) made tracking difficult
- No clear indication of approaching limits or overages
- Customers depended on Cyera teams for basic visibility
At the same time, licenses are fundamentally different products, and they cannot be aggregated or represented uniformly.
I led the product direction and UX, focusing on:
- Creating a unified view across different license types
- Making usage understandable regardless of measurement method
- Highlighting critical states to drive action (not just awareness)
- Designing for both monitoring and decision-making
1. Unified Licensing Overview
A dedicated page provides a clear snapshot of all licenses, each represented as a card with usage adapted to its model.
2. Deep-Dive License View
Each license includes a detailed view with usage breakdowns, trends, and clear comparison to limits.
3. Optional Licenses as Growth Opportunities
Unpurchased licenses are visible, helping users understand what's available and why it matters. Owned licenses lead to a detailed view, while unpurchased ones open a lightweight explanation.
The feature shipped as a core product surface and significantly reduced the need for customers to contact Cyera for license visibility. It improved transparency across complex licensing models and enabled more proactive, confident decision-making, receiving strong positive feedback from both customers and internal stakeholders.
